I haven't posted in months on my tv watching - or much else for that matter - but I think now is the time to start.
Before I put my thoughts down on this episode let me just say Elisabeth Sladen, we will miss you. You were an amazing companion, role model and a true lady. Thank you.
Now on to the episode...
First off I never really warmed to the Matt Smith Doctor (bowties are not cool) Or to Amy if I'm honest. There were moments obviously that I loved but overall I was like whatever. That said I enjoyed this episode more than any since David Tennant finished up. I think the larger group of 11, Amy, Rory and River worked really well. I was totally engaged watching them working together.
Mark Sheppard. LOVED HIM. Can he just be in every episode. Oh and his dad!! Yay! And who did he want to marry that caused the Feds to kick him out? Very interesting.

I liked the opening shots of "previously in The Doctor's life". Nice to see them pad out the non episode adventures he has,
I quite like the desert scene and, god help me, the doctor dying and them having to burn the body was so very tough to watch. Amy's reaction to his death was heartbreaking. This is a friend she's had since she was a kid. I can't imagine the pain she was in.
River slapping 11 was so fun and so deserved. I have to say Alex kicked the shit out of every scene she was in.
I quite liked the dynmaic of the doctor being the one not in the know. Gives an indication of the weight of knowledge 11 usually carries.

The alien things are creepy as hell. Do they remind any one else of the Gentlemen from Buffy? Anyway their lack of mouth/covered mouth was just creepy. The way they make people forget they see them really unsettles me. How can there be a defense against that? I think Moffat has finally delivered another baddie that get to me in a way I can't explain.
Didn't know this was a two parter but so glad. It went too quickly. I want more.
Oh nearly forgot, Amy is pregnant. Hmmm not sure what to think of that. Obviously going to be a huge plot point.
