ladyoflisquill: (Misc - Dancing Yeti by unknown)

I was too busy enjoying the glorious weather we were having yesterday to post on this but since the final is tonight (OMG!) here's my last thoughts on the semis.

Dream Bears - I had to youtube these as I missed them on the night but I really liked them. Yes, they weren't perfect by a long shot but they were so much fun. I love that Amanda was berating Simon for buzzing.

Good Evans - Elliot is the real star of this family but those two little girls are adorable. I don't know how any heart can't melt at them singing. I think next year it should just be Elliot auditioning. With a few singing lessons he could do really well.

Luke Clements - He's a bit of a twit really isn't he. He really didn't seem to care about what the judges thought. When he started juggling fire I had enough. It's something we've seen too many times before.

Hollie Steele first & second time - Its because of this that I'm really against kid actors/performers. They are under so much pressure and nerves to do well and if not supported they can crack. Undoubtedly she'd talented but I don't think she should have gone through because I'd be worried about how she'd handle another show or performing on a bigger stage.

Mark Matcham - I thought he did an okay performance. He chose his song well and obviously gained a lot of confidence since the auditions but overall not a great BGT act for me I'm afraid. He'll do well on the wedding band market.

Aidan Davis - This kid astounded me. The staging was fantastic. He obviously enjoyed what he was doing so much. When you compare this to George Sampson's performance in the last show I think Aidan will definitely give him a run for his money. And I don't think we've seen the best from him yet.

DCD Seniors - You know what annoys me? I thought these were really good but because they're not Diversity or FLawless, because they're not doing 'modern' street dance, Simon and Piers basically dismissed them. It's this meant to be a variety act? Is Stavros Flatley modern? I'm glad Amanda stuck up for them. I think they deserved top three placing at least.

Greg Pritchard - Greg was something different in the auditions and I like different. ut I thought he was completely off the mark with this performance. Trying to be both cat and dog came across as over the top to me and I thought the staging and the cape was pretentious. I agree that he ended it well but I was shocked he got a top three place.

The Results - Aidan definitely deserved the top place but I was totally surprised at Greg Pritchard getting into the top three. Hollie getting the second spot in the final is something I don't agree with because I think while she's talented she really can't handle the pressure of a live show like this. I hope she does okay, I really do, but I think she's going to put so much more pressure on herself because of what happened today.

Hee - we've got some areas of disagreement but overall - yeah!

Aidan is fantastic - he'd have won it last year I think. He is a GREAT talent. I hope he does well tonight. He's so charismatic and confident too!

I do totally get your point re the girl dancers - they were the best of that kind of act. I think for me though I was just a bit bleh to this kind of act by this point. I think I'd feel the same if there was another Diversity or Flawless though. I actually don't like the sheer numbers of dancers onstage either - I find it ends up looking a bit muddly even when it isn't.

Hollie - I agree it's a danger of kids performing, but she really wanted to perform, so I'm fine with it. And adults sometimes buckle and cry a bit too! Second time around she really was great. She's not anywhere close to being my favourite act, and she doesn't stand a chance of winning, but I didn't mind her being given a second chance. If they put an age criteria on it then we'd have missed out on Callum (who I thought was better than Hollie) and some of the others too - like the two little "Good Evans" girls. I dunno - although Hollie was distressed in the moment, I don't think it was a long lasting psychological distress or anything. People are being vile about her on Twitter and Digital Spy - that's more likely to cause psychological damage but hopefully she'll never see it! Mind you, people on twitter and DS are vile about everyone. I can't believe how cynical they all are!
