Can someone please give Joe Flanigan a cookie because he deserves it.
Add this interview to the comments Rachel made about the cast not even being told the title of the SGA movie before it was released to fans and you get a massive FAIL firmly placed on the Stargate producers shoulders. It makes me really question the ego of the production team and the future of SGU.
“No one is really certain why it was cancelled,” said Flanigan. “Every producer/executive lays the blame on the other so it’s becomes impossible to understand the true reasons. I think our cast did a truly amazing job in helping build a successful franchise, but I don’t think that it is seen that way by the writers and producers.”

Date: 2009-06-04 08:03 am (UTC)What I talked about is in the "mailbag"-section. It starts with "Joshua writes" and is easier to find if you go to the end of the entry and scroll up a little. The person who asked the question took one sentence from a longer statement out of context (which would have been important to understand what was actually meant to be said by this) and posted it in Mallozzi's blog, apparently to bait him, get a reaction out of him. And JM let himself being baited and delivered.
Interesting reactions in the comments section.
And yes, while JF doesn't hesitate to voice his opinion on the cancellation issue or what he thinks about franchise politics and how TPTB handle things and people (as did some of the other actors too, albeit not quite as blunt), he hasn't said something negative about JM personally. On the contrary, at a con he called him a "nice guy" as part of a longer talk.
Which means, either he actually doesn't have so much a personal dislike for Mallozzi but for "TPTB" and their "politics" in general or he's way better at playing the "let's stay polite and keep up appearances in the public"-game than JM is.
Either way, in this round, points for style and class go to JF, IMHO. *g*
